I Ship It

I Ship It is a weekly web series hosted by Rae of the Super Sirens cosplay duo. The show will focus around Rae shipping fictional character couples from comic books, movies, TV, and more.

I Ship It Ep. 04 – The Flash & Supergirl

In episode 04 of I Ship It, I ship two more DC Comics character who have broken into the spotlight with their recent live-action TV series on The CW and CBS, Flash and Supergirl. Flash, being a founding member of the Justice League, has been around for decades and have a strong, complex history that includes several different people dawning the Flash cowl, most prominently, Barry Allen. Meanwhile, Supergirl’s popularity seemed to peak in the Justice League Unlimited cartoon as Kara Zor-El, “older” cousin of Superman. How she can be both his big cousin but younger is some great sci-fi, timey-whimey stuff but that’s beside the point.

In this episode, I take a look at why now is the time for The Flash and Supergirl to come together as a couple. They are both seeing their highest level of popularity with two very successful shows in The CW and CBS respectively and they even have a crossover episode scheduled for this month! How cool is that?

Alright, that’s enough for the intro. Check out the video below for my thoughts on the two characters and why I think they make a great couple.

What did you think? Do you Ship The Flash and Supergirl like I do? Let me know in the comments if you’d Ship them and also make some suggestions for fictional couples you’d like to see get together. Don’t forget, season 1 focuses on comic book characters but this goes beyond just DC  and Marvel.

Don’t forget to subscribe to our YouTube channel, give the videos a thumbs up and drop a comment. I’d love to hear from you! And just maybe, I’ll pick one of your couple suggestions for an episode of I Ship It.

I Ship It Ep. 03 – Captain Marvel & Spider-Woman

In episode 03 of our new web series I Ship It, I stay in the Marvel Comics universe to Ship a same-sex couple. Recently, Marvel and DC Comics have become more comfortable with having same-sex couples in their canon. DC even made the Earth-2 Green Lantern gay in The New 52. So, I decided to look at two strong female superheroes in the Marvel universe who have never had a strong romance in their various incarnations, Captain Marvel and Spider-Woman. Both of these heroes have had a rough go, even being thrown to the dirt at times but never quite forgotten. Captain Marvel is even set to have her own movie in the MCU. While it’s unlikely we’ll see Spider-Woman on the big screen anytime soon, you never know, especially with the rumored now 68 characters for Infinity War.

Anyway, in Episode 01 of I Ship It, I Shipped two DC Comics characters, Batman and Zatanna. Then, in episode 02, I Shipped She-Hulk and Daredevil. Now, it’s time for Captain Marvel and Spider-Woman. Watch the video below, comment with your thoughts, and then suggest a couple for me to Ship in a later episode!

So what do you think? Would Captain Marvel and Spider-Woman make a solid couple? Do you think either one pairs better with another Marvel character? I’d love to hear your thoughts! Don’t forget to comment with some couples you’d like to see me Ship! If your suggestion gets put into an episode you’ll be in the running for a free I Ship It t-shirt!

I Ship It Ep. 03 – Captain Marvel & Spider-Woman

I Ship It Ep. 02 – She-Hulk & Daredevil

Rae, co-host of our weekly podcast series Screen Heroes, continues her quest to ship fictional character couples. In Episode 02, she switches gears from the DC Universe to Marvel Comics and looks at two superheroes who were both, at times, members of the Avengers, She-Hulk and Daredevil. Daredevil has been made very popular recently with the launch of his highly successful Netflix series but She-Hulk hasn’t had the same stint on the center stage. Check out Episode 02 of I Ship It as Rae talks about why She-Hulk and Daredevil are the perfect couple while also discussing some of the other love interests both characters have had over the years both in comic books and on screen.

So what do you think? Did Rae make the case for shipping She-Hulk and Daredevil? Do you think either one is better suited for someone else? Comment below with your thoughts and don’t forget to send us couples you’d like to see Rae ship for a chance to win some goodies like t-shirts and 3D printed stuff!

Preview: “I Ship It” Web Series Debut

Here at The Grid Daily, we are always trying to come up with new ways to express our fandom. That’s why, beginning Tuesday, February 9th, we’ll be debuting our new web series I Ship It hosted by me (Rae of the Super Sirens)!

What’s the new series about? Every week, I’ll match-up two fictional characters whom I believe would just make the best couple ever. I’ll also take suggestions from viewers!

Now, these fictional characters can really be anyone from comic books, movies, TV, novels, etc. In Season 1, I’ll be focusing on comic book characters, primarily superheroes. So expect to see me Ship people from DC Comics, Marvel Comics, and more.

Why is the series called I Ship It? The term to “Ship” two people has been around for a little while and is basically short for “relationship”. Urban dictionary defines “shipping” as:

A term used to describe fan fictions that take previously created characters and put them as a pair. It usually refers to romantic relationships, but it can refer platonic ones as well. (Just think of “shipping” as short for “relationSHIP”.)

So, while Superman and Wonder Woman have been together at times in comic books, I’ll focus on some pairings that might not have been as obvious or provided enough development. I’ll also provide some pairings that you may have never considered.
